beach flag
The Aarhus based bikefit- and cycling store, Velofit, asked me to design their new beach flags.
Velofit had a few demands for the flags: they were to be used at their gravel event Ulven (“The Wolf”) but also thereafter, and they should have colours and patterns.
A loosely defined task like this can be both a blessing and a curse but after conversations with Velofit’s owner, Thomas Bundgaard, I got a better idea of their taste and what they meant by “colours and patterns”.

design
(2023)
I defined two additional constraints for myself to make the task easier. First of all, I wanted to create a design which stood out in the landscape/environment it was placed in without ‘polluting’ it. I wanted the flags to be a noticeable but a discreet background. Second of all, I wanted the design to imitate parts of cycling. Whatever that meant I had to find out.
The pattern of the final design is inspired by the roads, paths and trails that a bike ride consists of. I wanted to create a sense of the individual parts making up the whole.
